Used Hyundai Coupe – Worth Scouring Your Local Car Supermarket For

I have many fond memories of my school days. You see by cunningly playing sports, music and talking too much in class, I managed to transcend different social groups and in turn the bullies that preyed on kids from one particular group seemed to pass me by. What I don’t have fond memories of however is how I went to and from my school, starting with a wet and windy bus stop, going via a used car supermarket and arriving at my destination cold and hungry.
Living in a town outside Cardiff has many benefits such as cheaper house prices and being quieter, but my parents insisted the schools weren’t much cop locally so off I went everyday on an hour long bus journey to and from Cardiff. The bus itself had seen two world wars and the birth of Christ from the looks of it and offered hard wooden seats, a cold draft and windows that somehow managed to condense in the summer as well as winter.
The banter on the bus was the only thing that kept us going I think, but there was always trouble of some kind, culminating in the bus driver taking photos of individuals, so he had evidence of the shenanigans we got up to – at least that’s what he told us they were for.
As bad as the bus was though, it was the endless trudging to the bus stop first thing in the morning that got to me the most. From beneath my duffel coat, scarf, gloves and ten jumpers, morning after morning I saw drivers in their warm cars sliding past gracefully, laughing at the radio as the rain lashed down on me. I vowed that once I was older and I had a job, I’d be driving in a nice car through puddles splashing school kids myself.
Through the condensed windows on the bus I’d spy all manner of cars throughout the countless journeys and changed my mind daily on what I wanted. Then on a particularly cold and icy day as I looked at the used car supermarket we passed daily I saw the curves of a car I’d never seen before, adorned with a badge I’d never seen – it looked like a ‘H’ but wasn’t Honda. The car was a two door coupe that was simply the best looking car I’d ever seen in the flesh.
Everyday we’d drive past and I’d see this magic car with no identity wondering what planet it’d come from and that once the ice covering it had thawed someone really ought to notice an alien craft at their supermarket. The car it transpired was from a foreign land – not Mars or Jupiter, but Korea – it was the new Hyundai Coupe and the world was agog at Hyundai’s audacity of making a car this good looking when their history was founded in a sea of grey, boxy pensioner-mobiles.
Fast forward ten years and I own a first generation Coupe and I love it. The car has been dubbed the ‘Korean Ferrari’ which despite my undying love for the car is complete rubbish. The curves are beautiful alright, but it’s no Ferrari and the performance and price tag differential reflect this. What this car does though is make you feel special. The front headlights look like tear drops; the bonnet has two bulges very similar to a Porsche 911 and the sides taper gracefully to the rear light clusters hiding under a spoiler that could easily be a sculpture in its own right.
Engines range from a 1. 6 litre to a 2 litre, although the car to look out for is the limited edition F2 Evolution which has an extra 17bhp pushed from the 2 litre engine, resulting in 155bhp. The F2 Evolution is even prettier than the standard car, with bigger wheels, front bumper, rear spoiler and oval racing exhaust. It was designed by Peter Stevens who designed the McLaren Formula One cars of the mid 90’s and the super car of the same name and Hyundai’s World Rally Championship team.
As standard you get, well everything really: leather seats, air conditioning, cruise control, ABS, plenty of bits moved electrically and a CD player. All derivatives have exceptional handling, with the car sticking to the road like glue no matter how hard you push it. This is the one main criticism of the Coupe – a lack of power, as the chassis could easily handle more.
The car is near bullet-proof when it comes to reliability too. Yes it’s a Korean car so the materials used for the interior are especially cheap, but I challenge you to find a better styled, handling and equipped car for the money. Oh yes the cost is by far the best bit. Even if you track down one of the rare 1,500 F2 Evolution versions, you still won’t pay more than £3000, with a bog standard 1. 6 litre version £2000 tops.
There’s a well known advert that says to be doing what you really want is priceless. The reality is that it’ll cost between £2000 and £3000.

‘Why do they give weapons to Israel and food to us?’?

THE fanfare marking yesterday’s arrival of the first American aid to Lebanon was scorned by Esam Haider and 2,000 fellow refugees living in an underground car park after their homes were bombed by Israel. Mr Haider, aware of recent reports that the US was accelerating the delivery of new missiles to Israel, was furious. “Why does President Bush send billions of dollars of weapons to Israel and hands the Lebanese a few boxes of food and blankets?” the 24-year-old chef asked :

“Is he just trying to fatten us up before he gives Israel bigger bombs to kill us?” he said as his nine-month old daughter slept on the concrete floor of the vast supermarket car park in Beirut’s southern suburbs.

Auto Insurance Considerations When Moving House

If you’re moving house permanently, there are several elements that you should consider when updating your car insurance policy. Many of these elements will have an effect on the rates you’ll pay going forward. In this article, we’ll tackle some of the issues involved when you’re moving house .
#1 – Avoid Policy Invalidation
Because many auto insurance providers determine your rates largely based upon where you live, you need to communicate your change of address when you move house. Neglecting to do so can invalidate your policy. If you move and are involved in a car accident during which you’re injured or your vehicle sustains damage, you may be surprised to discover that your car insurance policy no longer offers coverage.
#2 – Rate Adjustment By Zip Code
One of the reasons why your car insurance premiums are affected by your location is that carriers often assign risk to specific zip codes. For example, if there is an inordinate concentration of drivers in a certain zip code, your rates may increase. Or, if you’re moving to a zip code that has a high crime rate (auto theft, vandalism, etc. ), your rates may also increase. Of course, that means that moving to a zip code with fewer drivers and a lower crime rate should result in lower premiums.
#3 – Reduce Your Rates Through Less Driving
Sometimes, moving house means you’ll be driving less. Living closer to your child’s school, your job, or other places that you’ll visit often (for example, the supermarket) can reduce your automobile insurance rates. Insurance Companies understand that the fewer miles someone drives each year, the less likely it is that they’ll be involved in an accident. And that results in fewer claims.
#4 – Garage Vs. Driveway Vs. Street
Auto insurance companies receive claims for auto theft and vandalism every day. It’s costly for them to payout on these claims. Because a motor vehicle is more likely to be stolen or vandalized if it is parked on the street, insurance providers tend to consider garaged vehicles (and even driveway parking) more favorably. If you’re moving house and your new location provides garage parking, your car insurance company may be able to offer you a discount.
#5 – Will Your Financial Or Marital Status Change?
Sometimes, moving house is associated with a change in financial or marital status. Both can affect your premiums. Because automobile insurance carriers take into consideration your overall financial health and credit score when determining your premiums, an increase in your overall financial health could mean lower rates going forward. Similarly, carriers consider married people to be less likely to get into an auto accident. If you’re moving house due to getting married, let your auto insurance company know. You may be rewarded with a further discount on your premiums.
When It’s Time To Move
Moving house can be a stressful and frustrating event. There are hundreds of decisions to make and usually a limited time frame during which to make them. That being said, it’s important that you take the time to update your car insurance policy with the details of your new location. That includes updating your address and the number of miles you’ll be driving each year. Note adjustments in your parking arrangements as well as changes in your financial or marital status. Each of these factors can affect the premiums you’ll pay. And not communicating these factors can invalidate your coverage.

Set the Wheels in Motion: a Guide to Online Car-Buying

It may only be a little over a decade since the internet began its rapid rise to universal ubiquity, but already it’s difficult to imagine how we ever got by without the World Wide Web. Besides the countless communication tools, networked multimedia applications and a wealth of information available on tap, the one aspect of every day life the internet has changed almost beyond recognition is consumerism. People no longer have to queue in banks during their lunch hour, wait in line in travel agents or battle the crowds on Saturday afternoon shopping sprees. A simple networked computer, credit/debit card and a spare ten minutes is all that’s needed to buy anything from holidays and groceries, to mp3 players and house insurance. Moreover, the World Wide Web is open 24/7, creating a convenient round-the-clock shopping experience that places control firmly back in the hands of the consumer. Indeed, just about anything can now be bought online. Car shopping, for example, was once an extremely time consuming and exhausting exercise involving visits to countless automobile retailers and a sustained haggling offensive that would go at least some of the way towards achieving a fair price. Now, however, this is no longer the case. Car supermarkets may have been around for several decades, but with the advent of the internet era, large multi-make car dealers and e-commerce have combined forces to create the ultimate platform for the buying and selling of used cars. Firstly, there is the convenience aspect of shopping online. Independent car reviews and tips can easily be referenced from across the Web when narrowing down the desired make and model, whilst the research results can be matched against the cars on offer from online car ‘e-tailers’, removing any seed of doubt relating to the word of the archetypal second-hand car salesperson. Of course, the benefits of using an online car supermarket extend a lot further than mere convenience. Given that many don’t have expensive showrooms and they source their stock directly from fleets and leasing companies which helps to cut out the middlemen, it’s estimated that prices can be anything up to 10% cheaper than traditional ‘bricks and mortar’ car retailers. Combined with the fact that many online car supermarkets display comprehensive multi-angle interior and exterior photos, buying a car over the internet isn’t exactly a shot in the dark. Furthermore, whilst the World Wide Web isn’t able to facilitate full-on test-drives quite yet, most online used car retailers will not only deliver the car to the buyer’s door, but a 7-day money back guarantee should give ample time to test out the new wheels safe in the knowledge they have a full week to decide if it’s the vehicle for them.
